Sandra died peacefully in St Catherine’s Hospice, Scarborough on 12th September 2026.

It is with great sadness that Lockton Artists announce the loss of an invaluable group member, a talented artist and a spirited, individual character.

Sandra will be missed by us all.

Her dedication and contribution to the group was unwavering.

Painting and drawing were her passion.

Her garden studio was her sanctuary.

Strong-willed and single minded, Sandra was passionate about art and creating art and was never happier than when she was mixing colour and actively making work to exhibit, taking every advantage of opportunities open to her.

Sandra wouldn’t suffer fools gladly but took an interest in all walks of life.

Moving into the village some eight years ago, she fully embraced ‘Lockton life’ and her daily walks around the village with her canine pals, Monty and Nettle gave her the opportunity to chat with neighbours and visitors, entertain with her wit and wry sense of humour and put the world to rights.

Residents looked forward to with great anticipation the ‘Monty Calendar’, arriving through their letter box every year - a New Year’s treat for us all – the wonderful characterisation of her dogs guaranteed to bring a smile to all of our faces.

In 2027, in memory of Sandra, Lockton Artists and Lockton Tea Rooms & Gallery, hope to celebrate the life of this remarkable lady when the original illustrations for the Monty Calendars will be displayed in the Tearooms and be available to purchase.

Rest in Peace, Sandra.

We will miss you.
